Simultaneous translation
Online
Fully online meetings, such as webinars, online training or any type of meetings.
How? Through a videoconference platform like Zoom.
Hybrid meetings: Onsite events which requite broadcast both the meeting and the interpretation.
How? By providing the web environment, as well as the technical equipment and staff at the venue or by using the client’s means.
Simultaneous
How? It is done in real time. The interpretation lasts exactly the same as the interventions of the speakers, thus the event won’t be extended.
WITH PORTABLE EQUIPMENT
Context: Ideal for events in medium-size or small venues and for a limited number of participants. It’s also very useful in visits.
Equipment: Portable wireless transmitters and receivers (infoport type, similar to audioguides). More affordable and versatile than a booth.
WITH BOOTHS
Context: Necessary for conferences held in large venues and for a large number of participants.
Equipment: The interpreter works inside a soundproof booth, free from any distractions. For an optimal quality.
Liaison and escort interpreting
Context: Used in negotiations, small meetings, interviews and all types of visits (to a factory, an exhibition, etc.).
How? The interpreter is sort of a mediator who enables the parties to hold a fluid conversation.
Equipment: Without it or with portable transmitters and receivers.
Whispered
Context: For a maximum of 2 listeners.
How? The interpreter stays very close to the participants and whispers the translation in real time (simultaneous).
Equipment: Not needed.
Consecutive
Context: It’s normally used in events such as press conferences, book presentations and company meetings.
How? The interpreter uses a notepad to keep track of the information and interprets it after the speaker’s intervention.
Equipment: Since the translation isn’t in real time, the event will be extended. On the other hand, technical equipment is not necessary.
NB: Except for liaison/escort interpreting, more than one interpreter will be needed after a certain length of time, as to maintain the quality of the interpretation.
If you need advice of which interpreting mode would be best for your event or may you require a quote, please get in contact.
